The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting Project Managers and/or Superintendents in coordinating the activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met. Under the direction of the PM, the Assistant Project Manager is expected to take on any/all tasks in the quest to learn all he/she can about construction. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of construction experience. A degree in construction management is a plus.

Job Summary: 

Tandem Construction is pleased to announce that we are actively interviewing for an Assistant Project Manager. This role will support pre-construction and construction services on commercial construction projects in Southwest Florida. The Asst. Project Manager will work with Company Principals, Project Managers, Project Superintendents, Asst. Superintendents, Project Engineers, Interns and Contract Administrators. The Asst. Project Manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •  Identify and qualify subcontractors for assigned scopes of work
  • Prepare, receive, analyze and negotiate bid packages
  • Participate in design review meetings, emphasizing constructability
  • Prepare permit applications and participate in agency coordination meetings
  • Prepare and manage subcontracts and change orders
  • Check, approve, transmit and track all submittals/RFIs
  • Support team in preparing and updating progress schedules, assist in project sequencing
  • Assist superintendent with subcontractor coordination, safety and quality management
  • Assist with preparing close-out documents including O&E manuals, punch lists and inspections
  • Attend meetings for all assigned projects
  • Assist project managers and executives with additional daily tasks
Education/Experience: 

Required Skill Set:

You must meet the following minimum Criteria to apply for this position:

  • 1-5 Years of Experience in Commercial Construction in the fields of: Higher Education, Sports & Recreation, Government, Multi-Family, and Commercial Office Construction
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or a related field
  • Communication, Multi-Tasking, Time Management and Organizational Skills
  • Experience with Construction Management Software:
    • Estimating
    • Scheduling
    • BIM/REVIT

Software Used: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Plan Swift, ICE, Sage/Timberline, Plangrid, Bluebeam, Autodesk Navisworks, etc...
